I'm building a portable speaker with car auto parts, I have a 1000w amp for the full range and a 2000w for the 4 subs. The last power supply I had for it was a 12v 40A and I blew it up because it couldn't handle it. I'm wondering what I need to get In order to power the thing.

Going to be hard to get that much power and keep it portable. How portable do you want it? It’ll be tough to get more than 300-400 watts rms and still stay portable. I’ve done 200 watts but not with car audio equipment. I used ten 18650 lithium ion batteries and got a couple hours play time. The amp board I used ran on higher voltage than car audio equipment does though. Up to 48 volts DC to get full power from the ones i used.

i mean like powered by 120v. so you can like plug it into the wall.

To get a true 2000 watts you’d need around 160 amps. Another 80 amps for the 1000 watts. This is one reason why home audio runs on higher voltage amplifier boards. To get 2000 watts at 48 volts DC you only need around 40 amps. The largest power supply I’ve personally seen at 12 volts is 100 amps and it cost almost 300$. Mean well was the brand. I used it for a bench top power supply to test amps and subs in my garage. 1200 watts rms was about its limit before it would go into protect.

160AH lithium that supports a 12K system is pretty lofty! I've seen dual 24's or quad 12's that will do this. Most of what 've run across is dual...

Turn the volume completely down and operate ot normally. This is to see if it is the built in amplifier that is shutting down. If the radio does...
