Is my amp not strong enough for my sub

I have a 10" Pioneer TS-W253R sub connected to a Jensen UV10 HU and a Pioneer Amp GM-5400T. When I first hooked it up the sub hit pretty good with the gain set at normal and after about a month it started cutting out. I now have the gain all the way down and can barely make out the sub. What could be my issue?

Thanks

How did you have your sub wired to your amp? Try hooking an iPod up to your amp (using something like this:Monster® MusicConnect™ Portable Audio Player to Stereo Cable - RadioShack.com) to see if your amp is cutting out or if maybe it's a source problem.
Also, how is your amp grounded? Cutting out is often a bad ground. Are any of the protection lights coming on?

I had a sub once grounded to my seatbelt bolt and the ground cable broke at the terminal! my sub would get very static filled and just flat out cut off - but the amp would stay on.

Also check how your ground is going into the amp - it may have wiggled loose

re check the ground, heck pull it up and out of the car and do it all over again

No need to bypass the amp. Most use an LOC that takes the full amped signal and turns it into a flat RCA level signal. Here is the newest I have...

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...
